About PlainlySpoken

My name is Jon, I write under the pseudonym plainlyspoken.  That’s how I try to write my posts and comments, here and elsewhere on the net, so it’s a good handle.

I am a veteran of the USAF.  I was a cop – law enforcement specialty – serving for 5 years, 10 months and 19 days (so my DD 214 reads) from July of 1979 through May of 1985.  In hindsight I had a wonderful experience serving, though at times while on active duty it wasn’t so wonderful.  That’s just a part of serving.  I know in the Air Force we believed there were only two good assignments, where you just been and where you were going next.  But, I wouldn’t go back and trade that time for any other experience.  After leaving the USAF I continued working in public safety work till my “retirement” in 2007.

I’ve always been a moderate in my political leanings, usually conservative.  I am an independent and have been for around fifteen years and I am more libertarian now.  I believe we could do with a lot less government than we have now and hope we can rid ourselves of the excess real soon (yesterday would be good).

I write because I hope to bring some common sense thinking to overcome what I see as too much political extremism in America today.  Like any nation in history ours is limited and will one day fail, out of which will arise a new America that could take many different forms.  The question is when this will happen, not if it will.  It would be better if we made these changes by design instead of being forced to by collapse.  But, we don’t have a great track record in making the smart choices over the past 60 or 70 years.

Until that change occurs I will try to write to educate or irritate (depending on where you stand politically) readers.

G-Man was kind enough to invite me to join his efforts on his blog, which I gratefully accepted.  Thanks G.

So fill your coffee cup (or get your drink of choice), get settled into a comfortable chair and we’ll get down to brass tacks.
